Our Pastor: Rev. K. W. Isaac

 

Pastor Kenneth W. Isaac is a native of Houston, Texas. He attended schools in the Houston Independent School District and graduated from the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. Upon graduation from high school, Pastor Isaac attended Texas Southern University where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. He received his Masters Degree in Educational Leadership and Cultural Studies from the University of Houston.

 

As a youth, he was a very active member of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the Founding Pastor, Rev. E. L. Burnside. He was a member of the youth choir, a faithful attendee of Sunday school, and other church functions. He has served in ministry in various capacities including Brotherhood teacher, Sunday School Superintendent and Minister of Music. He has a passion for teaching people how to apply the Word of God in their everyday lives.

 

Pastor Isaac was ordained as Deacon at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in 1994. He accepted his calling to the ministry of preaching God’s word in 1995. He preached his first sermon on July 31, 1995 entitled, “Doing God’s Will” taken from Matthew 26:36-39.

 

On September 16, 2012, then-Pastor E. L. Burnside formally announced and presented Rev. Isaac as his successor. Two weeks later, on September 30th, 2012, Rev. Isaac's pastoralship of Mt. Carmel M. B. C. became official.

 

Over the past twenty years, Pastor Isaac has worked as an experienced Educator with a proven record of leadership. He was awarded HISD’s “Teacher Of The Year” for the 2003-2004 school year as well as for the 2010-2011 school year. He is also a recognized ESL (English as a Second Language) school teacher for the Houston Independent School District.

 

On December 28, 1991, he married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Denise Isaac. They are the proud parents of two wonderful children, Jasmyne and Joshua. Pastor Isaac is a true servant of God, using his Art Degree/talent to adorn the sanctuary with banners/signs, stained glassed paintings, as well as the Baptismal Pool Mural He is grateful for his many gifts and talents, but none are more rewarding than preaching and teaching the Word of God.
